FANDOM SPORTS Media Corp. (CSE: FDM) (OTC: FDMSF) (FRANKFURT: TQ42) is doing for sports fans today what the Circus Maximus did for ancient Romans. At this largest of Roman hippodromes (horse racing tracks), some 2,000 feet long and 600 feet wide, spectators were treated to captivating contests that typically featured 12 four-horse chariots racing for four miles as they traversed the Circus’ circumference seven times. The passion and excitement of 250,000 fans, the hippodrome’s seating capacity, as they cheered their favorites on must have made for a deafening din that’s unheard of today. The largest football stadium in America seats just around 100,000. Nevertheless, today’s fans are just as passionate, which is why FANDOM SPORTS, through its social media Android Sports App, is providing a platform for them to express their exuberance and frustration, just as the Circus did for its toga-clad enthusiasts.

Ancient Romans were possessed of the same fervor that might be witnessed at any modern game of football or baseball, which prompted the poet Juvenal to remark that they cared only about ‘bread and circuses’. Other striking similarities exist. Just as today’s sport figures can earn six-figure incomes, another contemporary commentator (the poet, Martial) complained about the…

'Incredibles 2' crushes animation record with $180 million

Jun 18, 2018

LOS ANGELES — The combined powers of superheroes, the Pixar brand and a draught of family-friendly films helped "Incredibles 2" become the best animated opening of all time, the biggest PG-rated launch ever and the 8th highest film launch overall. Disney estimated Sunday that the film earned $180 million in its first weekend in North American theaters — far surpassing industry analysts' loftiest expectations which had the film pegged for a $120 to $140 million debut. The previous animation record-holder was another Pixar sequel, "Finding Dory," which had a $135 million launch in 2016. It was Disney's live-action "Beauty and...

LOS ANGELES — Jay-Z and Beyonce are keeping up a family tradition, dropping a surprise album before anyone knew it was coming. The nine-track album "Everything Is Love" dropped Saturday on the Tidal music streaming service that Jay-Z partially owns. The album features Beyonce rapping on songs more than she has done on previous releases. One song that has a profanity in its title includes Jay-Z lashing out at the...

William Nash in West Hollywood said Saturday that deputies saw smoke coming from the electric vehicle and then fire. Deputies requested help from firefighters who quickly extinguished the flames. Tesla called the incident "an extraordinarily unusual occurrence" and said it is investigating. Nash said the driver, who was not named in a log entry, was out of...

Warner Bros. crackdown puts Dark Mark over Potter festivals

Jun 18, 2018

PHILADELPHIA — Warner Bros. is cracking down on local Harry Potter fan festivals around the country, saying it's necessary to halt unauthorized commercial activity. Fans, however, liken the move to Dementors sucking the joy out of homegrown fun, while festival directors say they'll transfigure the events into generic celebrations of magic. "It's almost as if Warner Bros. has been taken over by Voldemort, trying to use dark magic to destroy the light of a little town," said Sarah Jo Tucker, a 21-year-old junior at Chestnut Hill College, which hosts a Quidditch tournament that coincides with the annual suburban Philadelphia festival....
