New Fundraiser Alzheimer’s Nevada Event for Book Lovers, Authors & Families

BooksOrBooks, co-organizer of the Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Nevada, announced their new Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Nevada event will be held at BooksOrBooks, 3460 E Sunset Rd Ste R, Las Vegas, NV 89120 on 01/13/2018, 1-4pm PT.

Book Lovers, Authors, Children, and all Family Members or Caregivers who have a loved one living with Alzheimer’s are invited to the Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Nevada scheduled for 01/13/2018.

BooksOrBooks is sponsoring this month’s event, which will include local authors such as:

Featured Author: Nancy Nelson, author (Second Harvest: Blue.River.Apple. A Continuing Exploration of Alzheimer’s Through Poetry), who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and spearheads this bi-monthly event to raise money for Alzheimer’s Nevada.

Additional Authors: Kristine Johnson (Certified), s h Montgomery (Honor in the Blood), Judith C. Owens-LaLude (The Long Walk: Slavery to Freedom) and Mike Staton (Blessed Shadows Dark and Deep), will also be on hand to answer questions and sign books.

Guest Author: Stephen Murray, in advance of St. Valentine’s Day, will be signing copies of The Chapel of Eternal Love – Wedding Stories from Las Vegas.

The event runs Saturday, 01/13/2018, 1-4pm PT, at BooksOrBooks, 3460 E Sunset Rd Ste R, Las Vegas, NV 89120.

When asked about the reasons behind creating this event, the hosts of the event, Kim Henry, owner, BooksOrBooks, and Nancy Nelson, author, Blue.River.Apple. A Continuing Exploration of Alzheimer’s Through Poetry. said:

“Join us as we help raise money for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Nevada organization. A percentage of books sold by participating authors will be donated to the cause. For all those family members or caregivers who have a loved one living with Alzheimer’s, please feel free to attend the Alz. Café at the same location and time, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

41,000 people in Nevada alone have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia. By 2025, that figure will rise by 56% for people aged 65+. Sadly, right now there is no cure. No new medications that work. But there is hope!!”

Nancy Nelson, a former triathlete and insurance saleswoman, retired in Summerlin, NV, and is an author and publisher. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and while still in the early stages, she decided to explore the disease through poetry. She published a collection of poetry called “Blue. River. Apple.” that she hopes gives strength to people suffering from Alzheimer’s and enlightens those caring for people with the disease. Nancy spearheads bi-monthly fundraisers for Alzheimer’s Nevada.
