KAFO Opens Groundbreaking Modern Health Center in Burkina Faso Village

Norristown, Pennsylvania Dec 22, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Today, the Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO), Inc. announced the opening of the Sandia Millogo Health and Social Promotion Center in Konkourona, Burkina Faso. The opening of this Health Center fulfills a dream KAFO President, Dr. Jules Millogo, had 55 years ago when his father chose to send him away to another village so that he could attend school.

Dr. Millogo (Jules) addressed the crowd who gathered to celebrate. "This Health Center is the result of the efforts of hundreds of people around the world who came together to make this possible.  Some people gave several thousand dollars while others gave $500, $200, $20, whatever they could, to improve the lives of people they never met in a remote village in West Africa. We were also so fortunate to receive a large donation of medical equipment and supplies from Project C.U.R.E. in the United States."

Jules was one of 14 children born to Emmanuel and Sandia Millogo, 7 of whom died of preventable causes. He endured loneliness, hunger, homelessness, and countless illnesses and hardships in his journey to bring healthcare to Konkourona.

"Just last week, my 2-year-old son died from a fever because we could not get him to a health center in time to be treated.  Every family has stories like these, and we want these stories to end," said Issaka Ramde, the manager of the library built in Konkourona earlier this year.

Since KAFO was formed in 2019 and began working with the village association, Mami Siara Na (MSN), the village of Konkourona has been infused with hope. 

Together, KAFO and MSN have built new classrooms, water towers, and fountains, a health center, housing for teachers and health workers, a library, and a development office, to promote well-being in the community. 1100 trees were planted earlier this year to promote environmental sustainability and fight desertification. 

The community is empowered like never before to greatly improve the quality of their lives.  KAFO and MSN have plans to continue to work together to expand access to education, healthcare, water, sanitation, and development opportunities, and to promote environmental sustainability.
