Waskom Certified School Chaplains To Encourage Social Responsibility Announced

Following the passing of the Chaplain Bill, The National School Chaplain Association (NSCA) (405-831-3299) is now doing outreach in the State of Texas and they have new chaplaincy programs to support any school community.

The NSCA is the leading body for school chaplaincy both worldwide and in the United States and all of their certified chaplains undergo their comprehensive and rigorous training program, and most come from a background as a school teacher, as someone in youth church ministry or as a chaplain working in another context like healthcare. As the NSCA is the US’ largest chaplaincy body, when a school hires an NSCA-certified chaplain, they will gain access to a 24/7 chaplain, to the assistance of the association’s Senior Chaplain Board and to additional resources and programs that can benefit their community.

Their chaplains are trained with the skills they need to create a safe space within the school and to offer students, staff and community members confidential counseling. Through these confidential and voluntary sessions, a school chaplain will strive to improve emotional wellbeing, ease student and teacher stress, and provide spiritual care.

Beyond one-on-one guidance, NSCA-certified school chaplains will also organize community-building and charitable activities and create extra-curricular programs that encourage social responsibility. In an era of loneliness, anxiety and pessimism, an NSCA school chaplain can ignite hope and purpose by creating a culture of giving and social justice.
